Saying goodbye to our first home.. Wow, was that ever a tough day.
We may have only lived in this home for a little over 3 years, but it sure was a great 3 years. Living in this home is really what helped us to see we needed to make a few, yet major life changes. It was here we began to see the correlation between our mental health and the amount of “stuff” we had. The more space we had, the more we felt a need to fill that space, which lead to unnecessary stress and anxiety. “When given empty space, people tend to fill that space” -Unknown.
Selling our home was the easy part; selling most everything inside the home was not. We spent a lot of time trying to sell what we could to help fund our future endeavors, and what we couldn’t sell, we donated. It took well over a year to find new homes for our belongings, but in the end, it was worth it. Here are some of the helpful apps and ways we used to re-home our belongings:
- Facebook Marketplace (where we sold the most & also met some great people!)
- OfferUp
- Nextdoor
- Craigslist
- Tradesy (great for selling women’s clothing & accessories)
- Garage/yard sales
- Salvation Army
- Goodwill
